You can watch the video here or read below.
The number one reason why you need to blog: blogs generate traffic.
You ask, why do blogs generate traffic or how do they generate traffic? Blogs generate traffic because they increase your SEO ranking. Once you post, the search engines go out and they find the links. The links go through their algorithms and give you SEO ranking. Blogs generate links and links are the backbones of SEO. The links are what give you the Google juice.
Blogs position your brand as an industry leader.
If you blog about issues in the industry, it will position you as an industry leader, both to your customer and to those in the industry.
Blogs also generate more pages to your site.
If you have more pages, then you have more links to your home site and you get more SEO ranking. Regular blogs also signal that your site's being updated. Search engines track all the changes and send a signal that your site is active, and Google loves active sites and rewards them with better ranking. What a better way to do it than blogging?
Use your blog to share your brand story.
Your blog is a great place to share insights to your company, all about your philosophy, why you're in business, and why you do what you do. If you have employees, talk about your employees and ideas that are going on in your business. Tell your customers why you're in business and how you can help them.
Blogging is FREE.
Blogging also gives you the most bang for your marketing buck. It's free to do and it gives you content to put out on your other social platforms. You can post a pillar blog post and then you can slice and dice it and put it out on various social channels. You can do a graphic for Pinterest, you can put three or four different quotes on Instagram, you can put it on Twitter, you can put it on Facebook. One blog post per week could give you enough content for the week on all your social platforms. It's easy to do and you can post about anything. You can post videos, you can post photos, you can post anything that you would on social, you can post on your blog.
What to blog about?
One of the things I hear from my clients all the time is that they don't know what to blog about. So I'm going to give you some ideas for product-based businesses to blog about.
You can blog about a behind-the-scenes of your business and your products. You can show them what's going on.
You can show them how you make your products. You can give them step by step what you go through to make them. People love to get a sneak peek of behind-the-scenes. They love to know what's going on.
You can tell your company story and how you started. You can tell them how you developed your products and what idea helped you come up with the products. You can tell them the story behind those products.
You can give them sneak peeks into new products that are coming so that they're "in the know" first.
You can talk about your top sellers and give them product knowledge into those top sellers. What makes those products work? How do they work? Because we know and love our products, we think our customers know all about them but they don't. If you give them a step by step how to use your product and do it on video or even write it, the customers love that.
Another good idea is Q & A posts. I'm sure you get lots of questions from different customers, or what are you hearing through customer service calls or emails, or what are people asking. Put the Q & A as the topic and then answer it.
